My Zygoma Reduction, Revision Rhinoplasty and Genioplasty Review in Korea: A 90-Day Journey

Before Surgery

Before surgery, I often thought about the overall balance of my face. I was not looking for perfection or hoping to become a completely different person. I simply wanted my cheekbones, nose, and chin to feel more harmonious with one another.

Because I had undergone rhinoplasty before, deciding to have another operation was not easy. I knew revision rhinoplasty could be more complicated because of the changes to my existing nasal structure and tissue. I felt both hopeful and nervous, and I wanted to take enough time to understand my options before making a final decision.

My preoperative photographs became the starting point for this journey. Looking at them now reminds me of the concerns I had at the time, as well as the reasons I decided to move forward.

Why I Decided to Have Surgery

After considering the different possibilities, I chose to undergo zygoma reduction, revision rhinoplasty using my own rib and ear cartilage, and metal-free genioplasty.

Rather than concentrating on only one feature, I wanted to improve how the middle and lower parts of my face worked together. I hoped that reducing the prominence of my cheekbones, refining my nose, and adjusting my chin would create a more balanced overall impression while still allowing me to look like myself.

It was a major decision to combine several procedures, so I had mixed emotions before surgery. I was excited about the possibility of change, but I also worried about the operation and the recovery ahead. Reminding myself why I had made the decision helped me manage those feelings.

Why I Chose Made Young

During my search for a clinic in Korea, I wanted to find a medical team that would consider my facial structure as a whole rather than treat each feature separately.

At Made Young, my consultation focused on my anatomy, facial proportions, previous rhinoplasty, and the areas that concerned me personally. This was especially important because my treatment involved both facial contouring and revision rhinoplasty.

I was also able to ask questions about using my own rib and ear cartilage, postoperative care, and what I might experience during recovery. Having those conversations helped me feel more informed and comfortable with my decision. I still felt nervous, but I felt that my concerns had been heard and that my treatment plan had been created around my individual needs.

The Beginning of My Recovery

The photograph from Day 2 captures one of the earliest and most emotional parts of my recovery. Swelling was clearly present, and it was far too soon to understand how my final result might look.

Even though I knew swelling was expected, seeing such a different reflection in the mirror could still feel overwhelming. I tried to remind myself that I had just undergone several procedures and that my body needed time to recover.

Day 2: The beginning of my recovery, with noticeable postoperative swelling

By Day 7, I was still visibly swollen and healing. Reaching the end of the first week felt encouraging, but I also realized that recovery would require patience. Instead of examining every small difference from one day to the next, I began using my photographs as a record of the overall journey.

Day 7: One week after surgery, with healing still in progress

One Month After Surgery

By Day 30, my features were beginning to look more settled than they had during the first week. I could start to see changes more clearly, although I knew my face, nose, and chin were still healing.

Reaching the one-month point gave me a sense of relief. The earliest part of recovery was behind me, and comparing my Day 30 photograph with the Day 2 image helped me recognize progress that had been difficult to notice in the mirror.

At the same time, I still had moments of impatience. It was tempting to wonder whether every detail would stay the same, but I reminded myself that one month was still an early stage—especially after combining facial contouring, revision rhinoplasty, and genioplasty.

My Day 60 photograph showed another stage of gradual change. By this point, I felt more familiar with my appearance and more comfortable allowing the healing process to continue at its own pace.

Looking back at all the photographs together made a real difference. Changes that seemed very small from day to day became much easier to recognize when I compared the first week with the two-month mark.

This was also when I began to appreciate the relationship between the different procedures. Instead of focusing only on my nose, cheekbones, or chin, I found myself looking at the overall proportions of my face.

My 90-Day Result

Reaching Day 90 felt like an important milestone. In my photographs, the relationship between my cheekbones, nose, and chin appeared more balanced. I felt that the changes were noticeable while still remaining connected to my original features, which was important to me from the beginning.

Looking Back on My 90-Day Journey

Based on my personal experience, I would gently recommend Made Young to people considering zygoma reduction, revision rhinoplasty, or genioplasty in Korea who value an individualized treatment plan and want their facial features to be considered together. I especially appreciated being able to discuss my previous rhinoplasty, the use of my own cartilage, and my concerns about facial balance during the planning process.

However, surgery is a deeply personal decision, and every person’s anatomy, expectations, and recovery will be different. If you are reading this while considering similar procedures, my advice is to take your time, ask plenty of questions, and be honest about what you hope to achieve. Choose a qualified medical team that listens to your concerns and helps you understand both the procedure and the recovery process.

Most importantly, try to be patient with yourself. The first few days or weeks do not tell the whole story. For me, the photographs from Day 2 through Day 90 became a reminder that meaningful changes are often easier to understand when they are viewed as a journey rather than a single before-and-after moment.
