Dual-Osteotomy Chin Reduction and Revision Eye Surgery: My Recovery Story

Before Surgery

For most of my life, I felt self-conscious about the length and overall shape of my face. It was not an extreme problem, but it was something I noticed whenever I looked in the mirror or took a photograph. I had orthodontic treatment for three years in high school and later tried treatments such as facial fat and fillers, but I eventually felt that my underlying concern was related to my bone structure.

I was not trying to achieve perfection or become a different person. I simply wanted my chin and eyes to feel more balanced with the rest of my face.

Why I Decided to Have Surgery

After years of returning to the same concern, I decided to have dual-osteotomy chin reduction and revision double-eyelid surgery. It was a major decision, especially because the chin procedure involved bone surgery, so I visited several clinics before choosing where to proceed.

Why I Chose Made Young

At another clinic, I felt rushed and was given a surgical plan before receiving the careful evaluation I expected. My consultation at Made Young felt different. The clinic performed CT imaging for my chin, and the doctor spoke with me directly about my facial proportions and concerns.

I also appreciated the realistic approach to my eye revision. Instead of automatically recommending additional procedures, the doctor considered whether they would suit my face and explained that the asymmetry I noticed might also relate to my eyebrow muscles.

Made Young’s official information describes individualized chin-surgery planning based on factors such as chin shape and nerve location. The clinic also operates a separate aftercare center, which was important to me during recovery.

Early Recovery

On the day of surgery, I was surprisingly calm because I had spent so long thinking about my decision. After waking from anesthesia, I needed help from the staff during the first several hours. My throat also became uncomfortable, which made speaking difficult for a while.

During the first two or three days, my lips looked much more swollen than usual. My chin was tender when pressed, but I was able to eat foods that were not too large or hard. I returned regularly for postoperative care and wore a mask when going outside.

Progress Over Time

The swelling began to change more noticeably after the first week. By around two weeks, I felt comfortable taking off my mask occasionally in the evening, although my appearance still felt unfamiliar.

Twenty days after surgery, with healing and swelling still in progress.

The Day 20 photograph shows an intermediate stage rather than a finished result. My aftercare photographs also document the support I received during this period. Over the following weeks, the swelling continued to settle gradually.

My 90-Day Result

By around three months, I felt that my chin line looked more balanced with my facial features. People around me did not necessarily identify one dramatic change; some simply felt that my overall appearance looked different in a subtle way. My later selfies and the before-and-after comparison helped me appreciate the change more clearly.

Final Thoughts

The most meaningful change for me was feeling less preoccupied with a concern I had carried for years. I became more comfortable taking photographs, wearing different hairstyles, and going out without feeling that I always needed to hide or correct something.

This was my personal experience, and it does not mean surgery is the right decision for everyone. Careful consultation and realistic expectations were important parts of my choice.
