Zygoma Reduction, Revision Rhinoplasty, and Genioplasty: A 90-Day Journey

Before Surgery

Before surgery, I wanted to improve the overall balance of my facial features rather than pursue perfection. Because I had undergone rhinoplasty before, I understood that planning another operation would require careful consideration of my existing nasal structure and tissue.

Before: My starting facial proportions before surgery.

Why I Decided to Have Surgery

After considering my options, I chose zygoma reduction, revision rhinoplasty using my own rib and ear cartilage, and metal-free genioplasty. Rather than focusing on one feature alone, I wanted to address how the middle and lower parts of my face worked together.

Why I Chose Made Young

I was drawn to Made Young’s emphasis on individualized planning based on facial anatomy and proportions. This felt especially relevant because I was combining facial-contouring procedures with a revision rhinoplasty. I also appreciated that the clinic describes a separate postoperative care center and experience with revision rhinoplasty using autologous rib cartilage. These points gave me useful topics to discuss during consultation without making me expect one specific outcome.

Early Recovery

The Day 2 photograph captures a very early stage, when swelling made it difficult to judge any changes. By Day 7, I was still clearly healing, but the photo gave me a helpful record of the first week. I tried not to compare myself too closely from one day to the next because I understood that early swelling could temporarily affect the appearance of my cheeks, nose, and chin.

Day 2: A very early recovery stage with postoperative swelling still present.
Day 7: One week after surgery, with healing still in progress.

Progress Over Time

At Day 30, my features were beginning to look more settled than they had during the first week. The Day 60 photograph showed another stage of gradual change. Looking at the full timeline helped me notice progress that was harder to recognize in the mirror each day.

Day 30: One-month progress as the early swelling gradually settles.
Day 60: Two-month progress showing a later stage of recovery.

My 90-Day Result

By Day 90, the overall relationship between my cheekbones, nose, and chin appeared more balanced in the photographs. The before-and-after comparison made the change easier to appreciate while still showing a result that felt connected to my original features. I also understood that three months was only one recovery milestone and might not represent the final result, as residual swelling and tissue settling can continue.

Day 90: Three-month result, with further healing still possible.

Final Thoughts

This process reminded me to be patient and to view recovery as gradual. For me, the aim was never perfection—it was a more balanced facial impression. My experience and timeline are individual, so anyone considering similar procedures should discuss their own anatomy, goals, and expected recovery with a qualified medical professional.
