My Square-Jaw Reduction Journey In Korea: From Day 1 to Month 8

The Concern I Had Before Surgery

My face did not carry much soft tissue, but my lower jaw made it appear wider than I wanted, especially from the front. I had spent a long time noticing the same feature in photographs and wondering why my face looked broader even though it was not particularly full.

I simply hoped for a slimmer-looking lower face that felt better balanced with my other features.

Deciding to Change My Jawline

After thinking carefully about facial-contouring surgery, I chose oblique square-jaw reduction. During my consultation, the doctor explained that the width I noticed was related to the shape of my jaw rather than facial fat.

What interested me about the oblique approach was that the plan considered the jawline from the front as well as from an angle. That matched my concern because I wanted to address the overall width of my lower face, not only the jaw angle visible from the side.

Why Made Young Felt Right for Me

Meeting the doctor directly and reviewing my facial structure during the consultation helped me understand the proposed plan. I also asked how the surrounding soft tissue would be considered alongside the bone contour.

Postoperative support was another important factor in my decision. Made Young operates a separate aftercare center, and I knew that I would be able to return for structured care during recovery. I preferred having a place where my progress could be followed rather than feeling that the process ended on the day of surgery.

My Surprisingly Active First Day

Because square-jaw surgery required an overnight stay in my case, I expected the first day to feel very long. I was surprised that I felt well enough to spend a short time at a café with a friend. The Day 1 photograph still makes me smile because going to a café so soon after surgery was not something I had expected.

That was simply my individual experience, not a typical recovery milestone. The early photographs were taken while swelling and healing were still developing, so they should not be used to predict how another patient might feel after surgery.

Following the Changes Over Time

I returned regularly for postoperative care, and the aftercare photographs document that part of my recovery. By Day 19, I was comfortable enough to visit a restaurant and café. I was happy to be returning to familiar activities, although my face was still changing as the swelling gradually subsided.

In my Day 30 photographs, I felt that I looked much more like myself again. The lower face appeared slimmer in the images, and I could begin to appreciate the change from the front. One month was still an early stage, however, and did not represent the final result.

Seeing the Longer-Term Result

How I Feel Looking Back

The change felt meaningful to me without making me feel like a different person. I especially liked being able to see a slimmer impression from the front, since that had been my main concern from the beginning.

Keeping photographs from the consultation, early recovery, aftercare, and later months helped me understand how gradual the process had been. Looking back at the complete timeline, I am happy that I made the decision for my own reasons and with a realistic goal: better facial balance, not perfection.
