Botox / Filler Post-Operative Precautions
General Progress & Precautions
- The effects of Botox can sometimes be felt the very next day, but generally appear around 3 days after treatment and peak at about 2–3 weeks. After that, the effects gradually diminish, and by about 1 month, slight expression lines may return, giving a more natural look.
- Localized bruising may occur after Botox treatment, but this typically resolves within 7–10 days and is not a cause for concern.
- If Botox was applied around the eyes, avoid lying down for about 4 hours after the procedure to help prevent eyelid drooping.
Wrinkle Botox
- After treatment around the eyes, your smile may feel slightly unnatural at first.
- Botox on the forehead may cause a heavy feeling in the eyebrows, slight discomfort when opening your eyes, or a drooping effect on the eyebrows. These effects usually improve as the treatment settles.
Jaw (Masseter) Botox
- Botox works by reducing muscle activity. For jaw Botox, effects appear after about 3–4 weeks and reach their peak after 2–3 months.
- If a second treatment is needed, it is usually scheduled 4–6 months after the first. Please visit on your scheduled date to assess your condition and receive additional treatment if necessary.
- After square jaw Botox, avoiding activities that overuse the jaw muscles—such as chewing gum, eating tough foods like squid or jerky—will help maintain the smaller muscle size for longer.
- In some cases, you may feel weaker chewing power for about 1 month after the procedure, but this typically returns to normal with time
Filler
- Bruising may occur after filler treatment, but it usually resolves within 7–10 days and is not a cause for concern.
- Take any prescribed medications regularly and at the scheduled times.
- Swelling is common after filler injections, but within about 2 weeks the treated area will settle into the desired contour.
- If you experience symptoms such as heat, severe swelling, persistent pain, changes in skin color, blistering, or pustules, please contact the clinic and visit immediately.
